Overview
Cash flow financing gives you a lump sum of working capital today in exchange for a small, agreed-upon percentage of your future sales or revenue. Unlike a traditional loan, there is no fixed monthly payment - repayment scales up when you have strong sales weeks and slows down when you don't.

Deep dive: Cash Flow Financing
What is cash flow financing?
Cash flow financing - a form of revenue-based funding - is a form of small business funding where a lender provides a lump sum today in exchange for a fixed percentage of the business's future deposits or card sales. It is one of the fastest ways for a U.S. small business to access working capital, particularly when bank financing is too slow or out of reach. Because approval is anchored to real revenue rather than purely to credit score, it opens funding to businesses that may have been declined elsewhere.
How repayment actually works
Instead of writing a fixed check on the 1st of the month, a small percentage (usually 5%–15%) of every business deposit or card batch is automatically remitted to the funder until the agreed-upon payback amount is satisfied. When sales are strong, the advance pays down faster. When sales slow, the dollar amount of each remittance shrinks with them. This built-in elasticity is the single biggest reason restaurants, retailers, contractors, and seasonal businesses choose this product over a traditional term loan.
Cost: factor rate vs. APR
Cash flow financing is priced with a factor rate - a single multiplier applied to the advance amount - rather than an annualized interest rate. A $50,000 advance at a 1.30 factor means you'll remit $65,000 in total. The factor depends on your monthly revenue, time in business, industry risk, and prior funding history. While the effective APR is higher than a bank term loan, the speed, looser credit requirements, and revenue-flexed repayment make it the right tool when capital timing matters more than rate.
What businesses use it for
The most common uses we see at Lendpilot are inventory buys ahead of a busy season, covering payroll while waiting on receivables, marketing pushes with measurable ROI, equipment repair, taking on a larger contract that requires upfront materials, and bridging a short-term cash gap before a renewal or refinance closes.
Common use cases
Restaurants & food service
Cover payroll between busy weekends, buy inventory for a seasonal menu, or invest in delivery equipment.
Construction & contractors
Fund materials for a new job before the deposit clears, or bridge the gap between invoice and payment.
Retail & e-commerce
Stock up before Q4, fund a wholesale order, or run a paid-acquisition push during a high-margin window.
Auto, salon & service businesses
Replace a critical piece of equipment same-week without waiting on a bank decision.
